You are welcome to come and worship with us, as we strive to uplift God’s Word and help each one grow in God’s Grace. We are a little mission church that loves God and music located in the small town of Scammon in Southeast Kansas.

We may be small but we have a huge heart in sharing the Love of God so others will know Him, too. You may enter as a stranger, but you will depart as a friend. Feel free to look through our website and become a little more familiar with what we are as a Church Family.

What we Believe

We believe the doctrines of the Bible are sacred and unchanging and that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is given to everyone so that we may know Him and know how to live pleasing to Him [GOD]. If anyone follows the Bible, they will make it to Heaven.

OUR PURPOSE AND VISION:

For EVERYONE to DISCOVER GOD

There is great joy in helping others discover God. Our deep passion is to help individuals who are broken, damaged, and lost to find Jesus Christ, their healer and hope for their future. He is the One who can mend broken hearts, piece lives back together, and bring purpose to life.

FOR EVERYONE TO DEVELOP IN GOD

When individuals find Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, they are new infants spiritually. God’s desire is to see His children mature into spiritual adults. For this to happen, we must nurture them, pray with them, study God’s Word with them, walk with them, and be there for them. With God’s help, we want to help lead them into a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

DEPLOY THOSE READY TO WORK FOR GOD

God saves us for a purpose. That purpose is that we may share our faith with others and lead others to find the same great gift we have found in Jesus. The final step of our mission is to help every believer to be involved in leading others to Christ, whether it is through teaching, leading a Bible study, witnessing, or some other avenue of service.

SALVATION

We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of what is pleasing to God (Romans 3:23). The Bible teaches that the wages of sin is death, an eternal death and a separation from God (Romans 6:23). We believe that even while we were sinners, God loved us so much that He sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us (Romans 5:8) and if we will confess our sins to Jesus, Jesus will forgive us (1 John 1:9). Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord, shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Anyone who has been forgiven is now a child of God and they now have the hope of heaven (John 10:28).
When you have been forgiven, you become a new creature in Christ; old things have passed away and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). The forgiven one has been given a new heart. From that new heart flows new passions, new desires, new love, and new life. The things that we once did that we knew were wrong, we no longer do because we have a new heart, and we love God. In short, salvation brings deliverance to our lives. Deliverance from the sinful addictions and actions that once had us bound or in bondage.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH

When we start something new, we must learn what to do to be efficient in our new spot. A new employee must learn their new responsibilities. A newly married couple must learn how to live with each other. It is the same for a new Christian. The new Christian must learn what the heart of God is so that they can live in a manner that is pleasing to God. This is a learning process. One can learn about God through Sunday School, attending church services, personal Bible studies, and getting connected with a small group that help each other to be held accountable in their walk with God. You are not in this alone. God wants to see you grow and will be with you all the way. The early part of your journey with Christ may seem discouraging at times, but sooner or later, you are walking spiritually and enjoying every moment of it!

SANCTIFICATION

As you grow in Grace, (in Christ), you will begin to notice what seems to be a battle raging on the inside. By now, God has been showing you areas of your heart that He wants to make more into His image. At times you feel a battle to surrender to God’s dealings and His touch to change some things. He is speaking to you about some personal issues. You want to say, “Yes!” to God, because He has been so good to you, but something inside seems to be making it hard to just say, “Yes,” to God. This is what we call the “sin nature,” or “inbred sin.” We are all born with this nature. It is a nature that is embedded in selfishness. That is what God wants to get rid of. But the only way to get rid of it is to recognize that it is there, and then surrender it to God. When you get to a place where you truly surrender yourself…all of you…to God, He will cleanse your heart from this ugly selfishness and replace it with His fullness. He will be the Ruler or Leader of your heart. While there will be times that you do not understand “why” God is asking something of you, you will be surrendered to His will because you know He ALWAYS knows what is best for you. This is how we define a sanctified life.
Sanctification

History of the Bible Holiness Churches

The Neosho Valley Holiness Association came into existence in the late 1800’s.

By the faithful preaching of a Methodist minister the truth of full salvation was brought to this community, and the people banded together to preserve the spiritual blessings which God had given them. The Lord blessed their efforts, and the Movement grew and expanded.

Emphasis was placed upon repentance, restitution and praying through to a definite knowledge of sins forgiven, sanctification or holiness of heart and life, a second work of grace, as clearly taught in the Word; divine healing, and a plain, humble walk with God, blessed by the witness of His Spirit.
